Repo Rocks, a 5-year-old son of Tapiture, was all alone in the final furlong of Saturday’s $150,000 Toboggan S. (G3), rolling home a 8 ½-length winner in the seven-furlong race at Aqueduct.
The Toboggan was Repo Rock’s first graded stakes win and his third straight black-type score, coming on the heels of wins in the Blitzen S. and Let’s Give Thanks S., both at Parx. The three wins all have come for the trainer/jockey combination of Jamie Ness and Andrew Wolfsont.
Repo Rocks rated nicely in third as the field made its way through a half-mile in :45.76. Wolfsont gave the dark bay his cue soon after and came wide into the stretch, storming by the pacesetters and quickly drawing off to win as he pleased in 1:23.42 on a fast track.
“I knew it was a tough race, so I was extremely happy,” said Stephen Fox, managing partner for owner Double B Racing Stables. “I knew if he came out with his best, he would have more than a shot. It’s three in a row now, all with Andrew on him.”
Repo Rocks banked $82,500 in victory while improving his record to 7-6-6 in 32 starts.
Bred in Virginia by Mrs. C. Oliver Iselin III, Repo Rocks is one of two black-type horses out of the Not For Love mare Hawaiian Love.
Tapiture, who was last year’s leading Fourth-Crop sire by both winners and wins, is off to a hot start in 2023, already accounting three stakes horses and a dozen winners this month. He stands for $7,500 S&N.
